Hyatt Place Lincoln/Downtown-Haymarket

I stay here 10-20 nights a year when visiting family in Lincoln and it is always a remarkable experience. It's great having a branch of the Hyatt Brand here in Lincoln and this property is above and beyond the typical Hyatt Place. It is located in a unique layout in the Haymarket District which provides great access to restaurants, bars, and special events at the nearby Pinnacle Bank Arena that you won't find at more suburban hotels on the edge of town. Breakfast here is among the best of any Hyatt Place I have been to and it appears they take a lot of pride in this feature of the hotel. The seating area in the lobby/breakfast area is spacious with many different types of seating which is very conducive to getting some work done or taking a quick meeting. There is a small pool and well equipped gym also that is shared with the adjacent condo building. Staff here always goes above and beyond and have become friends over the years. I look forward to seeing them every time I am back in Nebraska. Great downtown Lincoln hotel.

I called for some questions around 11pm, as I'd be passing through and was considering staying there for the night. The phone rang through once with no answer. I called back again and a woman had answered. She had quite the attitude on the phone and was seemingly annoyed to even be bothered with questions. I decided to go anyway. When I got there, the front door was locked, which was fine. I called the number like the sign in the door said. With a view of the front desk, no one was there and no one came to answer the phone. I called again and then a woman had got up to answer the phone. She let me in and I was greeting with annoyance. I've never met someone so annoyed to have to do their job. She had a nasty attitude. If I hadn't already parked my car in the parking garage, I would have just left at this point. The hotel and lobby were very nice and there was some lemon water in the lobby for guests, which was very nice. My room was nice and clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable. At 7am, I was woken up by a loud obnoxious sound, which was the I e machine sharing the wall of my room. When I went to check out, the gentleman at the desk was incredibly kind and had wonderful costumer service. The lobby was also full of people appearing to enjoy their hotel breakfast. The location was nice, the parking garage appears safe and overall I'd say it's a great place to stay, so long as you don't arrive when that one gal is working and you aren't booked next to an ice machine.

I was supposed to stay here November 8, 2023 for business travel. Due to unforeseen circumstances (my license being stolen), I was unable to get from Omaha to Lincoln, where I would be staying and commuting to Kansas for business that day. I called the front desk representative that night to make her aware that I would to not be able to make it. She was not very sympathetic to my situation and said there was nothing she could do. I ended up being charged for a room I did not stay in. I am a long time loyal Hyatt member so I was shocked at her lack of assistance and understanding, because is not the usual service you expect from Hyatt.

I have stayed at this Hyatt twice. The first time I wrote it off because the main floor reminded me of walking into a fraternity house. The recent stay was much better and cleaner. First of all, the person at reception is nice. I think that I saw most of them. Also, the guy that was charged with finding out what was wrong with my tv, is fantastic. Especially when it was found to be the HDMI pulling apart from the tv. For these reasons, service gets five stars. The bathroom is where all of Hyatt's deficiencies exist. The faucet was installed too far back. When I wash my heavily larded hands and sausage fingers. they hit the back of the sink. I heard that this was an issue in every room. The shower was fine. The toilet was fine, BUT if you used the toilet for a BM while you check your DM, there is no fan to aid in the breathing efforts of your roommate(s). My wife made me wait until she was headed out. It is hard to tell your body not to evacuate.
